"The University of Southern Mississippi track and field team participated in the NCAA East Preliminaries Friday in Jacksonville, Fla., with hopes to qualify for the 2014 NCAA National Outdoor Championship.


In the 110-meter hurdles, junior Randy McCoy recorded a personal-best time of 13.78, placing him in fourth in his heat and allowing him to qualify for the National Outdoor Championship."

"After being released by the Miami Dolphins, former Southern Miss offensive lineman Jason Weaver signed with the New Orleans Saints Tuesday.


Initially, Weaver signed as an undrafted free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the spring of 2013. However, the Buccaneers cut him before training camp started and he was picked up by the Cincinnati Bengals."
